Hoyt R. Karr, Sr.

Hoyt Russell Karr, Sr., 81, of 140 Briarcliff Road, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Westminster, he was a son of the late Thomas Dean and Lillian Cox Karr. Mr. Karr was a Sergeant in the US Army, having served in the medic unit during the end of WWII. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, The American Legion Post 521 in Gainesville, GA, Bates Masonic Lodge in Easley and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved staying in his cabin in Helen, GA, watching the news, and spending time with his companion, Golda, and dog, Max.
Surviving are his devoted companion, Golda R. Noblitt of the home; a son, Russell Karr and wife Cheryl of Liberty; a daughter, Rebecca McDonald of Simpsonville; two sisters, Betty Kelly of Pendleton, Thelma Barrett of Central; and two grandchildren, Taryn Sims and Haley Karr. In addition to his parents, Mr. Karr was predeceased by a brother, Joe Karr.
A graveside service will be at 11 AM Saturday in Liberty Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jeff Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate; 1835 Rogers Road; Anderson, SC 29621.
The family is at their respective homes.
