Hugh Alexander

Robert Hugh Alexander, 87, of 4265 Farrs Bridge Road, Easley, husband of Margaret Lathem Alexander, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home.

Born January 2, 1924 in Pickens County, Mr. Alexander was the son of the late Robert E. and Jason McKinney Alexander. He was a graduate of Brevard College, and he retired from the US Post Office after 38 years of service. Also, he was a farmer and a former deacon and member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Mr. Alexander was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II having served from 1943-1945 in the LVT Repair Unit - Pacific as a 2nd Class Petty Officer.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three children, Mrs. Gilda (Philip) Hendricks, Mr. Jason (Paige) Alexander, and Mr. David (Cindy) Alexander, all of Easley; and five grandchildren, Megan Bishop, Sarah Alexander, Grace Alexander, Bob Hendricks, and Margaret Hendricks.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Mark B. Ford and the Reverend Jim Ed Looper officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM Saturday.
