Ina Jean Steele Crouch, age 87, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and recently of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Georgetown.
She was born on August 26th, 1928 in Pamplico, South Carolina, to the late Charles Dargan Steele and Evelyn Shelfer Steele. Mrs. Crouch was living in Beaufort, South Carolina when she met and married her beloved husband, the late Reginald W. Crouch of Greenville, South Carolina. They resided in Greenville until their move to Lookout Mountain in 1970, where Mrs. Crouch was an active member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church and the Woodland Garden Club. Devoted to her church, Mrs. Crouch was responsible for overseeing the landscaping of the church grounds for many years. She was also instrumental in seeing the church’s Memorial Garden become a reality.
In addition to raising her daughter, caring for her husband, and devoting many hours to community service, Mrs. Crouch was also a loving friend to many, enjoying a variety of recreational pursuits, including bridge, tennis, and gardening. Her personal garden was a great source of pleasure throughout her life.
Surviving are her daughter, Jean Crouch Rothrock and her husband, Steve, of Georgetown.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 am in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, South Carolina. A memorial service will take place at a later date at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be given to Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund, 316 N. Bragg Avenue, Lookout Mountain, TN 37350.
