India Smith Rathburn, 85, of 200 Joan Drive, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Clarence T. and Mary Wade Smith, Mrs. Rathburn was a 1943 graduate of Easley High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where she belonged to the Disciples of Christ Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, James Vernon Rathburn of the home; two sons, Reggie W. Rathburn and wife, Pepper, of Florence, SC, and Dean Rathburn and wife, Allyson, of Leland, NC; a daughter, Joanie R. Scruggs and husband, Terry, of Easley; a brother, James W. Smith of Greenville; four sisters, Nell Myers of Greenville, Bennie Massingale of Anderson, Joan Benjamin and Blanche Christopher, both of Easley; and eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rathburn was predeceased by a brother, Clarence C. Smith and a sister, Martha Duncan.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in Rock Springs Baptist Church Monday at 5:30 PM where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Dr. David Gallamore and Rev. Marion Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.

The family is at the residence.
