Mrs. Inez Reid Smith, 94, wife of the late Lloyd Furman Smith, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late James Lewis and Dovie Morgan Reid, and her step-mother, Bertha Spearman Reid, Inez started her career working with the Firestone Mill during WWII. Mrs. Smith retired from Alice Manufacturing and in her early years of employment she donated a weeks pay to help fund the building of the original Easley Hospital. She attended Pendleton Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Frances Smith (John) of Pickens, Darlene Alexander (Larry) of Easley, Crystal Burton (Hal) of Liberty, and Melissa Boyter (Vince Conwell) of Easley; two brothers, James Otis Reid (Judy) of Easley, and Cecil Reid (Ruby) of Pickens;eight grandchildren, Rex Chappell, Tina Alexander (Dewayne), Henry Chappell (Lori), Chip McCall (Brittany), Carley McCall, Brent Boyer, Lexie Conwell and Brittnee Boggs (Chris); eleven great-grandchildren, Andrew Alexander, Toni Alexander, Teddi Alexander, Anni Alexander, Stephanie Chappell, Carson Chappell. C.J. McCall, Carter McCall, Gracie Lynn George, Jordan Boyter and Kennedy Boggs; two great-great-grandchildren, Chevelle Holliday and Colt Holliday; and two special nieces, Nancy Willis Albert and Katie Willis Clardy.

In addition to her husband, parents and step-mother, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a brother, J.D. Reid; a sister, Viola Willis; and three sons-in-law, Claude Chappell, Lonnie Burton and Brian Boyter.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family members are at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cara Lexie Morgan Conwell fund, 207 McBee Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
