Inger Marie Myrdal Waters

Inger Myrdal Waters, 94, of Clemson, wife to the late Frank Earl Waters, passed away September 30, 2024.

Born on November 17, 1929, in Clear Lake, Wisconsin to Paul and Jenny Carlson Myrdal. Her parents had emigrated from Norway and set up their own dairy farm where Inger and her four siblings were raised. Upon graduating high school, she completed secretarial school and obtained a job working for an executive at Northwest Orient Airlines in Seattle, Washington. It was there that, through mutual friends, she met Frank Waters, who was serving in the US Navy. They married in Seattle and drove across the country to start their new life in Charleston, SC. Frank and Inger were busy with their grocery business but soon added a daughter, Denise and then a son, Frank, Jr. The business then took them to Elloree, SC for a brief stay before moving to Orangeburg, SC. They added two more sons, Gregg and Brad while becoming very involved in their community. Inger was a very busy mom with her four children, and later grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Inger also enjoyed sewing and needlework (she was famous for her “crazy quilts” and baby blankets). Her gardening skills were amazing and she loved playing bridge with her friends. Inger was an active member of Orangeburg Lutheran Church for 57 years before moving to Clemson in 2018 and attending University Lutheran Church.

Inger leaves behind her children: Denise Bauld (Greg) of Pendleton, SC; Frank Waters, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC; Gregg Waters (Michelle) of Morrill, NE; and Brad Waters (Dani) of Simpsonville, SC; as well as a brother, Jerry Myrdal (Barb) of Verona, WI. She also leaves 9 grandchildren: Laura Turner (Jackson), Melissa Rome (Brian), Katie Scott, Kevin Bauld (Ashley), Tripp Waters, Leslie Waters, Matthew Waters (Pam), Sarah Waters and Josh Waters, and 5 great-grandchildren; Earl, Gus, Francie, Rousseau and June. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Frank; as well as brothers Jim and Pete; sister, Ella and great-grandson Jack.
