Irene E. Wood

Irene Ellenburg Wood, 91, formerly of Pine Street, and wife of the late Charles Lewis Wood, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at The Retreat in Easley.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late James Thirl Ellenburg and Zilar Elizabeth Spearman Ellenburg.
Mrs. Wood was retired from Alice Manufacturing, Foster Plant. She was a former Bus Patrol with the Pickens County School District for many years and was a lifelong member of Park Street Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed playing bingo and sitting outdoors in her rocker.
Surviving are her children, Kaye Wood Bowick of Easley, Randall Lewis Wood (Dianne) of Pickens, Phillip Dale Wood (Kay) of Easley and Michael Lane Wood (Donna) of Liberty; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters, Audrey Ellenburg Turner of Liberty and Emily Ellenburg Lackey (Bill) of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, The Reverend James Edward "Shadow" Ellenburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the service to follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
