Mrs. Iris Cathcart Gemmill, 77, wife of the late Wyatt Jack Owens and the late Roy Gemmill, of 110 Regency Street, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at her home.
Born in Woodruff, SC, a daughter of the late Paul and Jessie Wood Cathcart, Mrs. Gemmill retired from JP Stevens, Parker Plant, and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church. Iris was well-known for her great passion for baking.
Surviving are one son, Bryan Owens (Jean) of Easley; one daughter, Sabrina Smith (Mike) of Easley; one sister, Mary Lou Hembree of Greenville; four grandchildren, Corey Smith (Carrie), Eric Smith, Lauren Lambright (Adam) and Parker Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Kara and Zoe Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Jones Avenue Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Roger Couch officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Mike Smith, 201 Woodhaven Road, Easley, SC 29640.
Memorials may be made to the Jones Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
