Iris Mimms Meeker, 92, of Willow Place, wife of the late Marion Meeker, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Branford, FL, a daughter of the late Burton and Eva McCullough Mimms, Mrs. Meeker was a homemaker and a very active member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville where she sang in the choir for over fifty years, taught Sunday School for many years and was very active in Women's Missionary Group and her Church Circle.
Mrs. Meeker was Past President of the Garden Club of Jacksonville.
Surviving are a son, Randy Meeker of Brunswick, GA; daughter, Kimberly Seabrook and husband, Dr. Paul, of Easley; six grandchildren, Alexandra Seabrook, Paul Seabrook, Brad Seabrook, Jenny Newland, Megan Damrill and Jason Sly; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Meeker was predeceased by three sisters, Jean Carver, Merle Gray and Lillian Williams.
Memorial services will be Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church Music Ministry or the General Fund or to the charity of one's choice.
