Iva “Ivy” Frank Porter, 95, husband of the late Evelyn Lewis Porter passed away at McCall Hospice House on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born in Pickens, SC, he was a son of the late Marie Hayes Porter and Walter Porter. Mr. Porter loved his Lord, always read his Bible, and was a lifetime member of Porter’s Chapel UMC, where he was the church historian. He retired after 42 years at the Judson Textile Plant of the Milliken Corporation.
Mr. Porter enjoyed the simple things in life, loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him, “Pop”. Ivy was an avid woodworker and was a prosperous gardener who would happily share his bounty with others. He had incredible baking skills and was known for his delicious poundcake with cream cheese icing.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Porter and Paul Porter (Helen) and a special friend, Christine Lewis.
Mr. Porter is survived by a son, Ken Porter (Diane); grandchildren, N. Kyle Porter (Jamie), Kevin Porter (Bobbie Jo), Brayden Newton, Shane Robbins and Carla Moore (Darren); great-grandchildren, Konrad Porter, Knox Porter, Zeb Jenkins and Zane Jenkins; sister, Olive Porter; brothers, Walter Porter, Jr. (Becky) and Garvin Porter (Laura), and sister-in-law, Elaine Porter.
