Izer (Ike) Benson, 82, born, May 31, 1935 to the late Isiah and Lizzie Benson. He completed his life March 20, 2018.
Ike lived in Central all of his life and was a very outgoing man. He was well known throughout the community of both Central and Clemson and other surrounding towns. Ike enjoyed working for many different families for many years in the community. He was very active in many churches. He joined Abel Baptist Church of Clemson at an early age. He was also a part of many gospel choirs including New Poplar Springs Male Choir and New Olive Grove Baptist Church Choir. He was a part of many other gospel groups because he loved to sing. Ike was a well know pillar of his community where he shared and helped a lot of people.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents along with two brothers and five sisters.
He leaves to cherish his sister and caretaker, Elizabeth Morris, two nieces, Betty and Melissa Morris, his sister, Joy Ivory Gillard of Norris, his sister, Ada Black of Central; nieces and nephew he raised in the home, Tommy L. Benson, Virginia Benson, Jerika and Cosha Benson, Jeroid Oglesby and Jared Kirksey. Ike had three favorite nieces, Betty and Melissa Morris of Central; Pauline Benson of Clemson; great nieces Faith Grant of Charlotte, NC, Jerika Benson of Seneca and Camile Oglesby of Central; favorite great nephews, Jared Kirksey and Caesar Oglesby both of Central; a host of nieces and nephews; and two best friends, James Kirksey and Julius Welborn of Central.
Funeral services will be 2:30 Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Abel Baptist Church in Clemson. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Central.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Saturday, March 24 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central.
