James Haynesworth Boyd, 97. longtime resident of Pendleton and widower of Frances Campbell Boyd, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Clemson Downs Health Care Facility.
Born in Union, SC he was a son of the late David Albert and Hattie Dove Boyd. Haynesworth was a retired Vice President in the claims department of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He was a 1937 graduate of Furman University and was a Major in the US Marine Corps where he served in the Pacific theatre during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pendleton.
Surviving is a son, James Haynesworth Boyd, Jr. of Seneca.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM, Sunday at First Baptist Church of Pendleton.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday in the church with Revs. Courtney Krueger and Jennifer Rygg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Boyd Hope for Special Needs Trust, P.O. Box 1953, Seneca, SC 29679.
