J. Melvin Chapman, Sr.

John Melvin Chapman, Sr., 89, of 608 W. Main Street, husband of the late Dorothy Justus Chapman, died Wednesday January 25, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Freeman and Sallie Reed Chapman. Mr. Chapman retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills in Eden, NC as a textile manager. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II and a member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, John M. Chapman, Jr. and his wfe, Vivian, of Knoxville, TN ; a daughter, Elaine Owens and her husband, Jerry, of Easley ; a sister, Pauline Smith, of Greenville, SC ; grandchildren, Mandi Moore and her husband, Patrick, of Liberty, SC, Jim Webb and his wife, Kerrie, of Easley, SC and Kim Heatherly, of Easley, SC; great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Kristin Webb and a special niece, Geraldine Watson, of Greenville, SC.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Reverend Dr. Sammy Kay and the Reverend Ronnie Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Graceland Cemetery-West, Greenville.
Family members are at their respective homes and will receive friends Friday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
