James Allen (Bud) Gillespie, 67, of 101 Gavin Court, Central and husband of Peggy Smith Gillespie, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at his residence.
Bud was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Sloan Maxwell and Hattie Pauline Hawkins Gillespie. He was the owner of Carolina Painting Company, Inc of Easley, SC. Bud was a York Rite Mason, a member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge, Hejaz Shrine Temple in Greenville and past president of the Blue Ridge Shrine Club. He was a member of LaFrance Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, James Allen (Jamie) Gillespie, Jr. and wife, Wendy of Pendleton and Jeremy Sloan Gillespie and wife, Lauren of Sandy Springs, SC; two sisters Helen Morrison of Central and Sue Spearman of Pickens; grandchildren, Gavin, Addie Ann, Graham and Raine Gillespie.
In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by three brothers, Bluford, Max and Larry Gillespie.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with entombment to follow in the Mausoleum at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3:15 PM, Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
