J.T. Gillespie

J.T. Gillespie, 71, of 221 Colonial Drive, went to be with the Lord Friday March 20, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital.
Mr. Gillespie was born in Easley, a son of the late Bill and Johnnie Sheriff Gillespie. He retired from W.R. Grace Company as a truck driver and was a volunteer fireman at the Three and Twenty Fire Department.. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an active member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Martha Ellen Whitener Howe Gillespie, of the home ; sons, Ricky Gillespie, Tim Gillespie, Coy Howe and his wife, Mary, all of Easley and Timothy Howe, of Liberty ; daughters, Phyllis Childress and her husband, Rickey, of Easley and Betty Echols and her husband, Monte, of Liberty ; a sister, Frances Rehrig and her husband, Dutch, of Titusville, Florida ; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Gillespie.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church with the Reverend Troy Craine officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with special honors from the Three and Twenty Fire Department.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 pm Sunday.
Members of the Three and Twenty Fire Department will serve as pallbearers and honorary escort.
