John Lloyd Gilstrap, 92, formerly of Turner Road, husband of the late Mildred Smith Gilstrap, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Heritage Health Care.

Born February 1, 1919 in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Ralph and Callie Holden Gilstrap. Mr. Gilstrap was a WW II veteran serving in the 1st Infantry Division of the US Army. He was a member of the Keowee Lodge 79 A.F.M. and a member of East Pickens Baptist Church. Mr. Gilstrap was a retired funeral service associate with Robinson Funeral Home.

He is survived by his son, Donald Gilstrap (Bobbie) of Liberty; brother, Billy Gilstrap of Liberty; sister, Pauline McGill of Greenville; grandchildren, Amy Gilstrap and Jonathan Schanewolf; great-grandchildren, Brooke Walter and Carson Schanewolf.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Beth Schanewolf, and sister, Willie Mae McJunkin.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Jamie Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Norris Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
