J.B. Hicks, Sr., 81, of 116-C Pinnacle Lane, formerly of 1731 Brushy Creek Road, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Jesse B. and Dollie Knighton Hicks, Mr. Hicks received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from Wofford College in 1953. He retired as President of Hicks, Inc., and was a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, where he was a member of the choir. Mr. Hicks was a former member of the Easley Lions Club and was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Navy in the South Pacific.
Surviving are his wife, Arline Hartman Hicks of the home; two sons, J.B. "Buddy" Hicks, Jr and his wife, Susan, and Brent H. Hicks, all of Easley; two sisters, Jessie Mae Pittman and Lillie Mae Jeans, both of Spartanburg; and two granddaughters, Caroline Arline Hicks and Grace Leigh Hicks. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hicks was predeceased by a brother, Jim Hicks; two half-sisters, Virginia Littlefield and Mary Lou Ponder; and a half-brother, Eugene Littlefield.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Easley with Reverend Dr. John Adams officiating. A graveside service will be 4:00 PM Friday at Norman's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawndale, NC with Reverend Dr. Brian Johnson officiating.
Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday night until 7:30 PM.
