J.D. "Shakey" Horton

John Doc "Shakey" Horton, 85, of 504 Tarrant Street and husband of Eloise Nalley Horton, died Monday, July 9, 2012.
Born in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Millard and Olivia Collins Horton. Shakey was a graduate of Central High School, was a long time shop foreman for Central Concrete and Plaster Company and formerly owned and operated the Horton Sand Company. He was a US Army veteran, a longtime member of the Central Volunteer Fire Department and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are two sons, Mike (Julie) Horton of Harrison, TN and Don (Ruth)Horton of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Joyce (Neal) Anderson of Georgetown, SC; one sister, Betty Parker of Central; one brother-in-law, Bill Nalley of Jonesboro, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Heather Dabbs, Seth and Paige Horton, Courtney Koonce and Taylor Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Zoee, Pearce and Neal; and two step-great-grandchildren Caroline and Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Horton; and two sisters, Edna Holliday and Bernice Loggins.
Funeral services will be 11 AM in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Central.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 10:50 AM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
