J. Douglas Mauldin

JAMES DOUGLAS MAULDIN - Seneca

James Douglas Mauldin, 73, widower of Nelma P. Kennedy Mauldin, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Oconee Memorial Hospital. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Marvin T. and Nelle McGuire Mauldin, Sr. He was a graduate of Seneca High School where he played football and was active in the drama club. During high school he worked for the Brown Funeral Home, the Richardson Theater and Duke Power Company. He was a graduate of Furman University. He was an award-winning photographer and journalist with The Greenville News, The Columbia State, the AP and others. He was a contributor to the History of Seneca by Louise Bell. He served with the U. S. Army in the south Pacific on Guam and the Eniwetok Island. He was also a member of the Clemson First Baptist Church.

He is survived by sisters, Ruth M. Harris of Seneca, Betty Jo M. Crandall (Giles) of Central , brother, Marvin T. Mauldin, Jr. (Pat) of Eastanollee, GA; step-sons, William H. Kennedy (Susy) of Charleston and Michael S. Kennedy (Maria) of Lawrence, KS, 2 step grandchildren and in-laws from the Purser family of Clemson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers Charles A. Mauldin and Wallace D. Mauldin, nephew Keith Crandall and great-nephew Troy Mauldin.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Old Stone Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-3pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clemson First Baptist Church, 397 College Ave., Clemson, SC 29631 or to the charity of one's choice.
