John Patrick "Jack" Ahearn, 82, of 301 Pinnacle Court, died Thursday May 7, 2009 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in New York, NY, the son of the late Patrick Joseph and Margaret Mary Glennon Ahearn, Mr. Ahearn retired from IBM after thirty-two years of service and was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where he was a Knight of Columbus 1st Degree. He was a graduate of the United States Military Acadamy at West Point and was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Tobin Ahearn of the home; two sons, John M. Ahearn and wife, Mary Ann, of Cohoes, NY, and Michael Joseph Ahearn and wife, Sheila, of Piedmont; three daughters, Linda Anne Ahearn Poplawski and husband, Peter, of Boca Raton, FL, Kathleen Marie Seconder and husband, Joseph, of Atlanta, and Eileen Patrica Ahearn of Atlanta; and two grandchildren, Katie and Elizabeth Ahearn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Miles officiating.

A Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georhia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601.

The family is at the home of Michael and Sheila Ahearn, 34 Great Lawn Drive, Piedmont, SC 29673.
