Dr. Jack L. Hunter, 91, husband of Phinalia Blackston Hunter for 62 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Robert Lewis Hunter and Ruth Cordell Hunter, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed woodworking and reading. He attended Mount Berry School for Boys, Berry College, Clemson University, and University of Georgia. He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. His career included 28 years with the South Carolina Technical College System, retiring as Chief Instructional Officer at Tri County TEC and five years with ACCTion, National Education Consortium. In his retirement years, together with his wife, they owned and operated Lemstone Christian Bookstore in Greenville and Spartanburg. He was a faithful member of Siloam Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Wendell Hunter of Easley, Kevin Hunter (Kim) of Greenville; daughter, Carole Brooks (Alan) of Kernersville, NC; brother, Robert C. Hunter (Barbara) of Laurens; and grandchildren, Bridgette Brooks (Walter); Skye Hurlocker (Matt), Monika Brooks, William Hunter, and Robert Hunter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:30AM-11:45AM at the church.
