Jacob John "Jack" Janzen, 89, of 211 Highland Drive, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Clemson Downs Nursing Center.

Born in the Ukraine, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Anna Duerksen Janzen. He received his PHD in Dairy Sciences from the University of Wisconsin and was a professor in the Dairy Sciences Department of Clemson University. Mr. Janzen was a member of Clemson Presbyterian Church and former member of Clemson Lions Club and the National Association of Parliamentarians.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou Mathisen Janzen of the home; a son, Robert Janzen and wife Kathy of Salt Lake City, UT; two daughters, Mona Turner of Simpsonville, Sherry Henry and husband John of Orefield, PA; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.

A memorial service will be 3:30 PM Saturday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David Sinclair officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association; 4124 Clemson Boulevard; Anderson, SC 29621, Clemson Presbyterian Church; 346 Old Greenville Highway; Clemson, SC 29631 or to the charity of one's choice.
