Easley, South Carolina

Jacolyn “Jackie” Rockwood Dark, 87, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late Alvin R. Dark, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Born in Floral Park, New York, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. Hodges, Jr. and Mildred Campbell Rockwood. She was a stewardess and supervisor at National Airlines for many years.  Jackie was known for her gentle and soft-spoken nature. She possessed a true ladylike demeanor that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her loving heart knew no bounds, as she would extend her care to anyone willing to receive it. Her humility was a shining example to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. One of Jackie’s greatest passions was sharing her testimony and the importance of salvation through Jesus Christ. She traveled across the United States, tirelessly proclaiming the love and mercy of her Savior. A devout prayer warrior, Jackie found solace and strength in her faith. In addition to her travels, she led a local Ladies Bible Study called Blessed Absolutes. Through this study group, she inspired and uplifted countless women, guiding them on their spiritual journeys. She was a faithful member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Jackie is survived by a son, Russell D. Dark; a daughter, Laura D. Nail; a brother, David S. Rockwood; a sister, Bobbie Kirkpatrick; four stepchildren, Allison Walling, Gene Dark, Eve Carpenter, and Margaret Robinson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Patty Lee Kitchens.

There will be a private burial in Robinson Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
