Jacqueline Edith Anderson Shonka

Jacqueline Edith Anderson Shonka loosed her earthly bounds July 30, 2023.

Jacky was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 27, 1928, to Swan Paul Anderson and Edith Larsen Anderson. She graduated from North High School (Omaha), and in 1951 received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Omaha. She taught home economics in the public schools of Union and Geneva, Nebraska for five years. On August 13, 1954, she married Eugene Shonka. They remained married until Gene’s death in April 2019.

Jacky was a life-long Lutheran and a member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Brevard, NC, and a frequent visitor to University Lutheran (Clemson) after her move to Clemson in May 2021. Jacky had three children, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren. Jacky’s family deeply appreciates the loving care given by the Clemson Heritage Senior Living Staff (2+ years) and Providence Hospice Care the past few months.

A celebration of Jacky’s life will be held at University Lutheran Church in Clemson on September 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  A brief dedication/celebration will follow at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Brevard, at 4:00 p.m. that same day.

In lieu of flowers, please make charitable contributions to Living Waters Ministry in Cherokee, NC, or El Centro (a youth centered program for the Hispanic community).
