J.D. "Jake" Lance, 91, of 169 Massingill Road, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Elbert and Terzie Stansell Lance, Mr. Lance was employed with Easley Ice Cream Parlor for twenty-seven years, after which he owned and operated J.D. Lance Paint Contractors for thirty-six years. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where he belonged to the Inspiration Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Reece Lance of the home; a son, Randy Fowler (Joyce) of Pickens; two daughters, Lola Clark (Bill) of Augusta, GA, and Carolyn Boyd of Pawley's Island; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lance was predeceased by two brothers, Whitey Lance and Roscoe Lance, and by a sister, Christine Moore.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
The family is at the residence.
