James Elford Anthony, 78, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020. He was born May 13, 1942 in Pickens County, a son of Bryan and Ethel Clark Anthony. James was a member of Prayer Baptist Church in Norris.
James attended schools in Pickens County. He was a Vietnam Era veteran who served his country in the US Marine Corps. He went on to be a painter with Duke Energy. James enjoyed fishing, farming, and above all, his family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorene Medlin Anthony of Central, SC; two sons, James E. Anthony, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Central, SC, and Bryan Anthony and his wife Christie of Six Mile, SC; two daughters, Susan Brewer and her husband Terry of Central, SC, and Lisa Rhodes and her husband Witt of Six Mile, SC; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother Harold Anthony of Pickens; and two sisters, Gayle Holcombe and Rosemary Youngblood, both of Easley. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Anthony and B. F. Anthony; and two sisters, Margaret Burgess and Neva Cutler.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
