Mr. James L. "Booger" Baker, 86, passed peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at his family home in Easley, SC. Born in Marion, VA he was son to the late James Baker and Lydia Greer White.
Booger, as he was known to all of his family and friends, was a quick witted and loving man who will be strongly missed. He taught his children to love Clemson football, even going so far as to tell them that their blood bled orange. His many family members and friends will remember him fondly during future family cookouts as the man and his grill and think back on his excellent cooking skills. His legacy will live on as his grandchildren travel through their lives with the unique nicknames given to them by him.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Baker of Easley, SC. Also, surviving are their three sons: Michael Baker (Debbie) of Simpsonville, SC, Mark Baker of Scottsdale, AZ, and Bo King of Easley, SC as well as their daughters Melissa Miller (Billy) of Lyman, SC, Angie Chapman (Byron) of Williamston, SC, Melinda Campbell (Chris) of Greenville, SC and Annette Holt (Tim) of Easley, SC. Mr. Baker is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Baker, two brothers James Ralph Baker and Paul Baker as well as two sisters Patricia White Stephens and Jewel B. Armstrong.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Homes on Powdersville Road in Easley, South Carolina. Services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Home Powdersville Road chapel in Easley, South Carolina. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, South Carolina.
