James R. Barker

James Roy Barker, 97, of Pendleton, passed away at Rainey Hospice House on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
Mr. Barker was born in Oconee County a son of the late, John and Lillian Lay Barker, and husband of the late, Ruby Crawford Barker.
He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and was the oldest member of LaFrance Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Bridges (Larry) of Pendleton; two sisters, Nell Stone and Grace Golden of Westminster; two grandchildren, Jonathan Bridges (Sandra) and Kathy Nash; seven great-grandchildren, Haley, Whitney, Hunter, Ryan, Emma, and James, and Denver.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Barker was predeceased by five brothers, two sisters, and a great grandson, Henry.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 3:00 P. in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. Burial will follow in Earls Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Westminster.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P. until 2:45 P. M. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
