James Cavelle Batchelor

James Cavelle Batchelor, 88, of Greer, husband to Betsy Batchelor, passed away July 13, 2023.

Born in Rocky Mount, NC, he was the son of the late George and Verona Cable Batchelor. Mr. Batchelor enlisted in the Air Force after high school where he tracked planes by radar at Edwards Air Force Base near Lancaster, CA. After his service, Mr. Batchelor moved back to North Carolina where he graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He later owned and operated Dye Control Systems, Inc. in Taylors, SC, building control panels for numerous textile mills in the southeast. Mr. Batchelor enjoyed being outside and constructing solutions to the needs of his small farm. He loved spending time with his various farm animals throughout the 46 years he lived out in the country.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy Evans Batchelor; children, Ann Gravley and husband Ray of Memphis, TN, James C. Batchelor, Jr. and wife Maxine of Darlington, and Lee Edwards and husband Rick of Central.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
