James Cleo Black, 96, of Greenville, husband of the late Callie Mae Bowers Black, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Pendleton Manor of Greenville.
Mr. Black was born on July 23, 1918, in Pickens County to the late James Ansel and Laverne Gaddis Black. He was retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 32 years of service and a member of Russell Memorial Presbyterian Chapel. Mr. Black was an Army Veteran, serving in WW II at Guadalcanal.
Mr. Black is survived by two sons; Fred Black (Barbara), of Easley, and Steve Black (June), of Greenville; four sisters, Frances Smith, Willard Shaloski, Lula Camp, and Sue Gibson, all of Easley. Mr. Black is also survived by seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty-eight years and his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmo and Melvin Black.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home ? Downtown, with the Rev. Ted Gaines officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 1:00 until 2:15 PM.
