James Loyd Bowers, 75, husband of Louise Kay Bowers, went home to his Saviour on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Hospice House of Anderson. A native of Salem, he was the son of the late William Harrison and Mattie Alexander Bowers. He was a hard worker all his life and worked in many areas such as lumber, textiles and was a self-employed entrepreneur. He was most enthusiastic and proud of his work as a greeter at the Central Walmart store.
In addition to his wife he is survived by sons: David Bowers (Susie) of Belton and Don Bowers (Cynthia) of Norcross, GA; daughters: Susan Kay (Wendell) of Pendleton and Debbie Croxton (Calvin) of Anderson; sisters: Ola Mae Crenshaw of Seneca and Lois Wilson of Berea; grandchildren: Jessica, Jennifer, Jason and Joanna Croxton; Terry and William Bowers, Lynn Fowler, Macy Siegler and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Linda Gail Bowers of Myrtle Beach.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3pm at the Norris First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the church prior to the service.
