James O. "Jimmy" Bryant

Dr. James Orr "Jimmy" Bryant, 71, of 213 Village Walk Lane and husband of Irene Walters Bryant, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at AnMed Health in Anderson.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late James O. "Jake" and Doris Sears Bryant. Dr. Bryant graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, earned a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Clemson. His career in environmental engineering lead him to live in many locations across the country and the world and he retired from Auburn University. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a sister, Judy Roper of Pelzer; a niece, Carol Attaway and her son Bryant Attaway of Greenville; and a nephew, Scott Roper, his wife, Missy and their children Tyler and Amanda of Pelzer.
A gathering of family and friends followed by a Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM Thursday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
