James "Jim" Walker Chapman, 71, of Easley, husband to Joyce Brady Chapman, passed peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, November 23rd at St. Francis Hospital Downtown Greenville.
Born in Six Mile to the late Phillip Walker Chapman and Callie Holliday Chapman.
James was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church for 12 years, where he served his church as a Deacon, Chairman for the Church Council, Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, and actively taught Sunday School. He enjoyed fishing, the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves, and most importantly reading his Bible.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Laura Dodson, and sister-in-law, Doris Chapman.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Maurer (Jim) of Missouri and Angela Blythe Byars (Steve) of Greer; brother, William "Bill" Charles Chapman of Easley; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; long time friends, Sue and Melvin King of Georgia.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26 at 2:00 PM in Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley with Rev. Zach Shaw and Rev. Roger Couch officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations have been requested by family directly to Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
Family will be at the residence.
