James William (Jim) Culpepper, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 2, 2014.

Mr. Culpepper was born in Atlanta, GA, a son of the late James Wallace and Martha Burford Culpepper. He graduated from Georgia State University, was a computer programmer with Delta Airlines, worked in the textile industry for LaFrance Fabrics and Trend Mills, and for parking services at Clemson University.

Jim was always the life of the party, loved sports, played minor league baseball with the Chattanooga Lookouts, was a member of Boscobel Golf Club, a U. S. Army veteran and U. S. Coast Guard Reserve, and a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marchita Williams Culpepper; son, Thomas Neils Culpepper (Vivian) of Cartersville GA; daughter, Tina Annette Deaton (Rickey) of Rome, GA; brother Wilton Culpepper (Pat) of Carnesville, GA; sister Betty Cherry (Bill) of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Chelsea and Aaron Deaton.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons, James William and Charles Wallace Culpepper; a brother, Burford Culpepper; and a grandson, Charles Blaze Culpepper.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, and the family will receive friends following the service in Tartan Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 Edgewood Ave, Clemson, SC 29631 or to the charity of one's choice.
