James R. Dacus

James Rogers Dacus, 85, of 115 Skyland Drive, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, Mr. Dacus was a son of the late Henry Ervin Dacus, Sr., and the late Margaret Rogers Dacus. He graduated from Easley High School, Furman University, and Southwestern Seminary. Mr. Dacus worked for JC Penney in Greenville, and he retired from Robinson Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he belonged to the McCall Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the US Navy.
Surviving are a daughter, Andrea Dacus of the home; a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Chick of Villa Rica, GA; a sister-in-law, Mary Reid Dacus of Piedmont; two nieces, Beverly Norton and Mary Ann Hunt; and one nephew, Mike Dacus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dacus was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Thomas Dacus; a brother, Henry Ervin Dacus, Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Ann Dacus; and a brother-in-law, Harold Chick.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating. Entombment will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Easley First Baptist Child Development Center or the Marion Davis Fund at First Baptist Church, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
