James W. Everett

James Wesley Everett, 89, of 1101 Jameson Road, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his home.
Born in Mackeys, NC, a son of the late William Alfred and Jessie Phelps Everett, Mr. Everett retired from the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He later retired as a captain with the Naval Base Police Dept. Mr. Everett was a member of South Norfolk Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for over twenty-five years and was a member of the Khedive Shrine Temple in Norfolk.
Surviving are three daughters, Jessica Williams (Preston) of Duck, NC, Debbie Gainor (Ed) of Raleigh, NC, and Tammy Sawyer (Chuck) of Aydlett, NC; four brothers, three sisters, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and his caregivers, Joe and Christine Miller of Easley.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Sunday at the Pickens Mennonite Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Sunday at the church, prior to the service.
Burial will be later this week in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Norfolk, VA.
