James M. Gentry

James Morrell Gentry, 79, of 802 Hickory Hollow Road, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007.
A native of Easley, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Paul Ryan and Maude Morrell Gentry.
He was a graduate of Easley High School, Furman University, and University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. He was owner and president of Inman Drugs for 30 years and a former member of the South Carolina and Piedmont Pharmaceutical Associations. He served in the US Army at Camp Detrick, Frederick, Maryland at the U.S. Biological Weapons Headquarters during the Korean conflict. As a Presbyterian, he was a deacon, elder and a choir member. He was an avid golfer and a member of Red Fox Country Club.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Alice Welborn Gentry; son, Dr. Richard Ryan Gentry and his wife, Cynthia, of Bristol, Tennessee; daughter, Jane Gentry Fleming and her husband, Robert, of Earlysville, Virginia; daughter, Joan Gentry Wilson and her husband, Mitchell, of Charlottesville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Patrick Ryan Gentry, Theodore Mitchell Wilson, and Robert Garfield Fleming, Jr. His brother John Gentry predeceased him.
Private committal services will be Saturday morning at Westview Cemetery in Easley, South Carolina.
The memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends in the social hall of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg after the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of his grandson, Robbie, to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central Virginia, 8001 Franklin Farms Drive #139, Richmond, Virginia 23288 or to a charity of one's choice.
