James Ray "Jimmy" Godfrey Jr.

James Ray Godfrey Jr., age 82, of Liberty, passed away on February 19, 2025.

He was born on April 4, 1942 to James Ray Godfrey, Sr. and Ruth King Godfrey. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for 18 years, from which he was medically discharged. He went on to work as an industrial maintenance mechanic for Cryvac until he retired. He was on the board of directors for Lupus Foundation, a member of the American Legion Post 52, and a lifetime member of the Shangri-La Association. He was also a member of Carolina Community Church. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his son, James Ray Godfrey III "Jim" (Sandra) of Easley; his grandchildren, James Ray Godfrey IV (Dawn) of Idaho, Amanda Godfrey Timmons (Robert) of Marietta, Elijah Godfrey, and Abigail Godfrey; his great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mae Timmons, Wyatt Earl Timmons, Timothy Godfrey and James Ray Godfrey V; his brother, Darrell Glenn Godfrey (Pam) of Columbia; his beloved friends, Patrick McCullough, Corey Maness, Matthew Owens, Dale Simmons, Nathan Church (Catrina), Moe Christopher (Teresa), Patricia Porter, and Brenda Grammas; and his very special fiancee, Juanita Revis. 

He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Judy Cantrell Godfrey; his son, George Mackey Godfrey; and his brother, David Lynn Godfrey.

Visitation will be held on February 22, 2025 from 1:30-2:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, Easley, SC.

Cryptside services will be held on February 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Reflection of Robinson Memorial Gardens.
