James Harrison “Jim” Bishop, 79, beloved husband of the late Brenda Joan Phillips Bishop, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022.

 

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Reverend L.E. Bishop and Barbara Mundy Bishop.

 

Mr. Bishop was retired from Rogers American Brokerage in Greenville and was a member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a member of the Palmetto Masonic Lodge #19 A.F.M. in Laurens, SC.

 

If you had the opportunity to meet Jim, he would greet you with a handshake and a few pieces of peppermint candy.

 

Surviving are his children, Jay Bishop (Julie) of Easley, SC and Jami Bishop Cummings of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jay Bishop II, Kennedy Bishop, and Luke Sturgeon; and sisters, Malinda Chalmers of Laurens, SC, Mary Ellen Phipps of Texas, Sara Lee Moore of Alabama and Jane Nevitt of Columbia, SC.

 

The family will receive friends Monday, November 14, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

 

A memorial service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Geer Memorial Baptist Church. A private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
