James Harold Hawkins, 95, husband of Lola Head Hawkins, who lived on Head�??s Lake Road in Central, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he has served for more than fifty years, on December 9, 2011.

Mr. Hawkins was the son of the late Rev. George B. and Beulah Shirley Hawkins of Central. He was a veteran of World War II during which he served with the U.S. Army Eighth Ordnance Company in the United States, North Africa, and Italy. He retired from Cannon Mills in Central.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, five daughters Hellen Reeves (Arthur) of Fountain Inn, Margaret Hawkins of Central, Joanne Carter (Don) of Spartanburg, Faye Johnson (Joe) of Evans, GA and Barbara McMahon (Bill) of Denver, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. James Harold Hawkins was man of great faith in God, honor, and generosity. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central with burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2pm prior to the service.
