James Raymond Hood, Sr., 87, of 207 East 2nd Avenue, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009, and was granted rest in a place of light and refreshment, where there is no pain, suffering or sorrow, where he will live in God's radiance for eternity.

James was born on February 10, 1922 in Easley, SC to the late James Milton and Nellie Cothran Hood. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a devoted husband to the late Frances Butler Hood. He worked in the textile industry, retiring from Loom Products, Inc., in the field of sales, and was a long time devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Greenville, SC.

James was a devoted father and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James R. Hood, Jr. and Judy Tate Hood of Easley; a daughter and son-in-law, Iris Hood-Bell and Ren Bell of Greenville; a sister, Ruth Hood Hester of Easley; five grandsons, Keven Bell, Keith Bell, Jeffrey Pitts, B.J. Bell and Ren Bell; three granddaughters, Allison Hood Lemere, Amanda Hood Totman, Rachael Elizabeth Hood; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Hood was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Hood; and a sister, Lucille Hood Putnam.

May his memory be eternal in the hearts of his family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown.
