James Frank Hood, Jr., 93, of 501 Hood Road, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Anderson County, a son of the late James F. Hood, Sr. and the late Nettie Freeman Hood, Mr. Hood retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier with 27 years of service and was a veteran of World War II having served with the Second Armored Division of the US Army. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class and had taught Sunday School for over 40 years.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mildred Williams Hood of the home; 2 sons, Doug Hood of Piedmont, and David Hood and wife, Rebecca, of Powdersville; two daughters, Sharon Humphries and Sandra Syracuse and husband, Jody, all of Powdersville; 2 brothers, Alva Hood and Bolt Hood, both of Powdersville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hood was prededeased by two sisters, Mae McNeely and Mattie Taylor.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Lynch and Rev. Michael Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery.
The Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, Easley, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
