Mr. James Hubert Irvin, 85, of 10003 Clovis Dr., husband of the late Aubrey Campbell Irvin, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at the home of his daughter Cheryl Peden.

Mr. Irvin was born May, 31, 1926 in Greenville County. He was a son of the late John W. and Bertha Miller Irvin. He was a US Navy veteran serving in WWII on the USS New York. He was the retired owner of Mills Avenue Shell Station and Heating Oil, and also worked for Belks and Loomis Fargo. In 2009 he participated in the Flight of Honor, was a Gideon and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Peden (Houston) of Seneca and Martha Jones (Robert) of Columbia; brother, Arthur Irvin of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, R. Matthew Jones, David H. Peden, Amy Jones and Diana Byrd; great-grandchildren, Sam Jones, Kathryn Jones, William Garner, Gabe Garner, and Jacob Byrd.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, James H. Irvin, Jr.; and brother, Walter E. Irvin.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery West with the Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, SC.
