James M. Ivey, Jr. - Pendleton
Mr. James Murphy Ivey, Jr. of Pendleton, SC died Friday, May 11, 2007 at the age of 81, at AnMed Health. He was the son of James Murphy Ivey and Lizzie Fern Ivey of Graham, NC. Mr. Ivey was a Naval veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Commercial and Industrial Contractor in Toronto, Canada for 19 years and for 35 years in South Carolina. He was a member of the North Anderson Community Church Presbyterian. He served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Chispah Ivey of Pendleton, SC, his son James Murphy Ivey, III and his wife Nancy Stein Ivey and daughter Charlotte of Anderson, SC.; his daughter Susan Ivey Jones and husband Charles S. Jones of Denver, CO and their sons Joshua H. Jones of Boulder, CO and Michael J. Jones of New York, NY; his daughter Carolyn Ivey Spencer and her husband John C. Spencer and their sons Jamie B. Spencer of Clemson, SC and J. Hadley Spencer of Fairfax, VA; his daughter Melanie Ivey Job and her husband Wade K. Job of Pendleton, SC and their daughters Hannah I. Job and Emma I. Job of Pendleton, SC; and his daughter Annie Ivey Leonard of Pendleton, SC. Mr. Ivey is also survived by his brother Hadley Ivey and his wife Edna Ivey of Graham, NC and his sister Betty Lou Foust and her husband Thomas of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 5:00 p.m. at North Anderson Community Church Presbyterian. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to North Anderson Community Church Presbyterian, 4200 Liberty Hwy., Anderson, SC 29621 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
Mr. Ivey was greatly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. His loving spirit and genuine goodness enriched our lives beyond measure.
