James Kenneth "Steak" Smith, 63 of 108 East Plaza Circle, Apt E-3, Central, SC, gained his wings on July 26, 2019 at his residence at a restful and peaceful sleep.
Steak, as he was so lovingly called by all he knew and loved him, was born on November 21, 1955 to the late Willie James and Emma Ruth Simpson Smith in Anderson County.
Steak was reared in the home of his gracious loving aunt and uncle, Rufus, Jr. and Bertha Simpson of Pendleton, SC from a very early age until he later married and moved out on his own.
Steak was a long time employee of West Point Stevens and Milliken and Company until he found self employment and his health began to decline.
James "Steak" leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories; his one and only daughter Kennetha (Punkin) of Pendleton, SC; three beautiful and adoring granddaughters, Onasia A. Campbell, Alexis S. Walls, both of Pendleton, SC, and Chania M. Smith of Anderson; one brother Larry Smith of Athens, GA; one aunt, Gloria Simpson (Larry) Johnson of Pendleton, SC; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Steak was predeceased in addition to his loving parents, by one son, Chadwick O. Smith (Tiffany); one brother, Michael Smith, and maternal grandparents, Rufus, Sr. and Nannie Gambrell Simpson.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 1 at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC 29630.
