James Mark Bishop

August 12, 1970 — December 16, 2025

Brandon, Mississippi

James (Jim) Mark Bishop also known as Bish was born on August 12, 1970, in Summerville, South Carolina and passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at his lovely home in Brandon, Mississippi. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son who made lasting memories with those who knew him. He brought joy and happiness throughout his family and friends. Jim was a faithful man that loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he was a member of Brandon First Methodist Church.

Jim was well known for his time working 30 years in the Atlanta Braves organization. Once retired from baseball, Jim had the wonderful opportunity to come work for Region 8 here in Brandon. His hard work and generosity to others left a lasting impression with those who crossed paths with him during his life. He earned a degree from Easley High School in South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. During his time at South Carolina, Jim worked for the USC Athletic Department, serving as a student equipment manager for the Gamecocks football team.

Beyond his professional life, Jim was a loving family man that loved spending time with his family. Jim’s smile lit up a room and everyone in it. Jim loved and embraced every person he met. Jim, his wife, and his children spent many days at a baseball, soccer, or football field. Jim loved his wife Krista by showering her with little love notes and flowers every week. Jim and his son Jack shared a special bond over the South Carolina Gamecocks. If they were not sitting in recliners next to each other watching the games, they were traveling to either Williams Brice Stadium or any opposing stadium to cheer on the Gamecocks loudly. Jim loved spending time with his son Davis by watching popular movies from the 80s and 90s, sharing funny stories that made each other laugh like laughing at referees falling on the sidelines during football games, and sharing that bond of their sense of humor with Davis’s wife Lara. Jim loved cheering on the Braves, going to the course to play a round of golf, and always cheering on his Gamecocks with the Bishop Family.

Jim leaves behind a family that loves him so much which includes his loving wife, Krista Bishop; their two sons, Jack Bishop and Davis Bishop (Lara Bishop); his brother Chris Bishop (Jennifer Bishop); his father Hubert Bishop Jr (Joyce Bishop) and so many others. He was also preceded in death by his mother Kathy Bishop and his grandparents Hubert Bishop Sr. and Sara Bishop.
