James Elbert McAlister, 92, widower of Ethel Riggins McAlister died Tuesday, December 4 at his residence. Native of Pickens County, he was a son of the late Ed and Lottie Gillespie McAlister. He retired from Clemson University after 22 years of service.
Survivors are son Don McAlister and wife Barbara of Clemson; daughters Sandra Prater and husband David of Central, Marnell Cothran and husband Jack of Sparta, TN, Nancy Herron and husband J.R. of Elloree, SC; brothers Henry McAlister of Gaffney, Vernon McAlister of Anderson; sisters Lottie High of Rocky Mount, NC, Capitola Black of Liberty; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Friday at 5:00PM in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM-5:00PM prior to the service.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 15 Brendan Way, Suite 100, Greenville, SC 29615.
