James Lestee McNeely, 85, of 202 Lavonne Avenue, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late James Roy and Cora Letha Pace McNeely, Mr. McNeely retired as a Supervisor with Alice Manufacturing Company and was a member of Arial Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and belonged to the church choir. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Wayne McNeely and James Roy McNeely and his wife, Debbie, all of Easley; a daughter, Margaret Ann Ballenger and her husband, Ronald, of Pickens; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. McNeely was predeceased by a brother, James Weldon McNeely.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Arial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Danny Parton officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
