Mr. James Furman Nix, 79, husband of Doris Mullikin Nix, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at North Greenville Hospital.

Born in Easley, the son of the late Richard Ernest and Annie Mae Blackston Nix, Mr. Nix retired from Alice Manufacturing with forty-six years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Easley Fire Department for thirty-five years, and helped organize the first rescue squad in Easley.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-two years, are a daughter, Diane Nix Henderson of Easley; three grandchildren, Stephen Tate (Tammy), Shawn Henderson (Carrie), and Jennifer Henderson; seven great-granchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nix was predeceased by a sister, Frances Nix Crowe.

Private graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

The family is at the home.
