James Nathaniel "Nate" Nuckols
Easley, SC
Mr. James Nathaniel "Nate" Nuckols, 90, of Easley, loving husband of the late Helen Glymph Nuckols, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Nate was born on March 15, 1926 to the late Clyde S. and Mary "Gladys" Henderson Nuckols. He graduated from Clemson University in 1951, was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in WWII, and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Nate is survived by two sons; James N. Nuckols, Jr. (Ruth) of Woodruff, and Phillip Nuckols of Easley; and a sister; June Nuckols Strickland of Westminster. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Wendy Owens, Christopher Nix, and Phedra Williamson; three step-grandchildren; Mitch Stewart, Nick Stewart, and Lindsay Haldeman; a great-grandson; Aubry Clark (Madison); two great-great grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son; David Nix; and a grandson, Ashley Nix.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 210 Mt Airy Church Rd, Easley, SC 29642 with Rev. Keith Shorter officiating. Interment will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery in Fair Play.
The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Compassus, 1923 E. Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334.
